Enchanted Princess

Enchanted Princess is the fifth vessel of the Royal class and the direct sister of Sky Princess, continuing the enlarged, MedallionClass-native evolution of the series. She was ordered under a contract finalised on 2 April 2016 and built by Fincantieri at Monfalcone, Italy, as yard number 6275. Her keel was laid on 14 February 2019, she floated out on 6 August 2019, and after fitting-out she was delivered on 30 September 2020. Her construction and debut were reshaped by the COVID-19 pandemic: Fincantieri's Italian yards were shut for roughly six weeks in spring 2020, pushing delivery back about three months from an original target of mid-June 2020, and with the global cruise pause her introduction to service slipped by well over a year.

As a result, although Enchanted Princess was completed and handed over in 2020, she did not carry paying passengers until 2021. Her maiden revenue voyage sailed on 10 November 2021 from Port Everglades on a Caribbean itinerary, and her formal naming ceremony followed on 13 December 2021 as a streamed event. This gap between delivery and first sailing is a defining detail of her early history and a consequence of the industry-wide shutdown rather than any fault of the ship.

Dimensionally she matches her class at the larger end: 145,281 GT, 329.92 metres long, with a moulded beam of about 38.4 metres (extreme beam near 47.2 metres) and a draught of roughly 8.5 to 8.6 metres. She is laid out over 19 decks, 16 for guests, and accommodates 3,660 passengers at double occupancy and up to 4,610 at maximum, served by around 1,450 crew. Her 1,830 staterooms continue the class norm of about 81 percent with private balconies.

Enchanted Princess carries the full MedallionClass guest-technology suite built around the wearable OceanMedallion, giving keyless entry, on-demand delivery ordering, touchless payment and locating features through the Princess app, alongside the established Royal-class venues: the three-storey Piazza atrium as the ship's hub, the adults-only Sanctuary, and the over-the-side glass SeaWalk and SeaView spaces first pioneered on Royal Princess. Her propulsion is diesel-electric, drawing on four Wartsila engines rated at about 62.4 MW total that feed two 18 MW electric motors, for a service speed of about 21.9 knots and a top speed near 23 knots.

The naming ceremony honoured women of exploration and science, with godmothers drawn from The Explorers Club, Lynn Danaher, Vicki Ferrini and Jenifer Austin. Registered at Hamilton, Bermuda, and flying the Bermudian flag, Enchanted Princess has operated a mix of Caribbean sailings from Florida and European programmes. She remains in active service with Princess Cruises.
