Silver Spirit

Silver Spirit is an ultra-luxury cruise ship that, on her 2009 debut, ranked as the largest vessel Silversea had yet built, a milestone in the growth of the all-suite line. Constructed by Fincantieri at its yard in Ancona, Italy, the roughly 39,500-gross-ton ship was designed to bring a broader array of dining, spa, and entertainment options to the fleet while retaining the intimate scale that Silversea guests expected. In her original configuration she carried a modest complement of guests in keeping with the brand's spacious ethos.

A decade into her career, Silver Spirit underwent one of the more dramatic transformations in the fleet. In a 2018 refit, the ship was physically lengthened, cut apart so that a new mid-body section could be inserted, a complex piece of marine surgery that added new suites and public venues and brought her guest capacity to about 608. The lengthening modernized the ship and aligned her dining and social spaces more closely with the newer Muse-class vessels then joining the fleet.

As with every Silversea ship, all accommodations aboard Silver Spirit are suites, the great majority with private teak verandas, and each is attended by butler service. The ship was christened by Silvia Lefebvre d'Ovidio, another member of the founding family whose name recurs among the fleet's godmothers.

Registered in Nassau, Bahamas, Silver Spirit sails worldwide ultra-luxury itineraries, ranging in recent seasons through Northern Europe. She remains in active service, a ship whose mid-life lengthening gave her a second act and kept her competitive alongside Silversea's newest classes.
