Vision of the Seas

Vision of the Seas was the sixth and final ship of Royal Caribbean's Vision class, the series she gave her name to, entering service in 1998 at about 78,717 GT. Built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique at Saint-Nazaire, France, she represented the culmination of the class's design evolution, carrying its signature abundance of glass, a light-flooded Centrum atrium, glass elevators, and a glass-canopied Solarium to their most refined expression.

Designed for roughly 2,400 guests, Vision of the Seas offered the full range of Royal Caribbean amenities of her era, including the funnel-wrapped Viking Crown Lounge, a two-deck main dining room, show lounge, casino, and spa. She was christened by Helen Stephan, wife of Royal Caribbean founder Edwin Stephan, a fitting connection to the company's founding generation for the ship that closed out the Vision program.

Over her career Vision of the Seas has been widely deployed, sailing Caribbean, Mediterranean, South American, and repositioning itineraries, and she received refits to update her interiors and dining venues while retaining the bright, ocean-facing character that defined the class. Her versatility and mid-sized scale have made her well suited to markets that larger ships cannot easily serve.

Vision of the Seas remains in active service with Royal Caribbean International, registered in Nassau, Bahamas. She has homeported at Baltimore, Maryland, offering convenient drive-to cruising for the mid-Atlantic region, with seasonal Bahamas and Caribbean deployments, keeping the final Vision-class ship sailing well past her twenty-fifth anniversary.
